Meet the Cast: South Pacific

MARK BACON (Hamilton Steeves/Lt. Buzz Adams) is thrilled to revisit South Pacific and join the ABT Family! Most recent: Sky in Mamma Mia! at Phoenix Theatre. BLAIR BEASLEY (Lt. Genevieve Marshall) is very excited to be back at Arizona Broadway Theatre! She was previously in ABT’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar (Disciple). Off- Broadway: Urinetown: The Musical Revival (Little Becky Two Shoes, American Theater of Actors). Regional: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Madame/Congregation, Ogunquit Playhouse), Footloose (Wendy Jo, Eldorado Resort Casino). Other credits include: West Side Story (Anita), RENT (Seasons of Love Soloist), The Wedding Singer (Holly). BFA Acting from Syracuse University. She would like to thank her beautiful family, friends, and angels for all of their love and support.

TAYLOR CAPRARA (Ensign Connie Walewska) is thrilled to be returning to the Arizona Broadway stage for its 13th season. Taylor is from Missoula, Montana, and made her ABT debut last season as the Strawberry Seller in Oliver! Favorite roles include Jane (Disney’s Tarzan, Fort Peck Theatre), Sandy (Grease!, Fort Peck Theatre), Brooke Wyndham (Legally Blonde: The Musical, University of Montana), Maria (The Sound of Music, Missoula Community Theatre), and Hope Cladwell (Urinetown: The Musical, Missoula Community Theatre). Taylor couldn’t be happier to be back in Arizona and would like to thank her family for their never-ending support.

CHUN YING CHIANG (Liat) is originally from Taiwan, now based in NYC. She finished her professional training at National Taiwan University of Arts and AMDA NY. Chun’s favorite credits in Taiwan include Molly in Dame Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap and Ingrid in Peer Gynt. She made her Off-Broadway solo debut in Chun Ying sings Cole Porter and friends, a one-woman show at the renowned Triad Theater in 2016. Chun also appears in Everything is Wonderful, starring Bond girl Tonia Sotiropoulou (Skyfall, Hercules). This film is participating in the Chelsea Film Festival and made its premiere in October 2017. SEAN DAVID COOPER (Emile De Beque) enjoys a diverse artistic life comprised of singing, acting, writing, directing, and lecturing. Standout credits include Baz Luhrmann’s Production of Puccini’s La Bohème on Broadway, Riverdance on Broadway, and Lifetime’s YOU (2018). Favorite roles include El Gallo (The Fantasticks), the Pirate King (Pirates of Penzance), and Daddy Warbucks (Annie). Companies include Pittsburgh CLO, Kansas City Rep, Arizona Theatre Company, and Flat Rock Playhouse. Dr. Cooper attended Carnegie Mellon University, Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Memphis. Sean is a teacher of Yoga and TRX and is also a guest lecturer for the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

PAYSON CYPHERT (Jerome) Born in Phoenix, Payson was raised in the mountains of Colorado where he got his first taste of acting at Lake Dillon Youth Theater. Educated at home, Payson is 12 years old. His credits include School of Rock, Junie B. Jones, Cinderella, and he just finished the production of Annie at Theater Works. Payson is stoked to be in his first show at ABT, and he can’t wait to entertain you.

JAELY DAMASCO (Ngana), 12, is a seventh-grader at Glendale Preparatory Academy. She is happy to return to ABT for the second time on the ABT Mainstage. Other roles Jaely has enjoyed playing are Annie JR (Orphan, Theater Works), Oliver (Ensemble, ABT), School of Rock (Carlina, SYT), South Pacific (Ngana, SYT) and ABT Academy show Shrek the Musical Jr. In her spare time, Jaely likes to sing and dance while helping in the kitchen baking. She loves to entertain and make her friends and family laugh. Jaely thanks her family, friends, the Klaphakes, Kurtis, Rob, and everyone at ABT for this amazing opportunity.

EASTON DANA (Jerome) is thrilled to perform in Arizona Broadway Theatre’s South Pacific. He made his debut at ABT playing Tiny Tim in the 2015 production of A Christmas Carol and returned last year as Ralphie in A Christmas Story. He is currently an 8th grader at Candeo in Peoria. In his spare time, Easton referees soccer tournaments, performs magic tricks, follows politics, and reads. He loves to entertain and make his friends and family laugh. He is delighted to have the chance to work with such a talented and welcoming cast and crew.

SKYLAR GAMBLE (Henry/Abner) is a recent graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA). Skylar grew up in Middletown, Ohio, and is thrilled to be a part of Arizona Broadway Theatre’s production of South Pacific. Skylar has performed professionally at the La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Seussical (Wickersham Brother), Cinderella (Ensemble) and Hairspray (Ensemble). LaRON HUDSON (Stewpot) is so excited to be back this season after ending last season with a dream show as Ronald in Hands on a Hardbody. Previous credits include The Full Monty at Stageworks Fresno and with Patrick Dorow Productions, A Christmas Carol Off Broadway, Zuccotti Park at the 2016 Fringe Festival directed by Luis Salgado from On Your feet, Lysisarah at Hudson Warehouse, Animal Story, Rock of Ages, Ghost, Mary Poppins, American Idiot, and Hands on a Hardbody with Rex Smith. NICHOLAS STEVEN KING (Radio Operator Bob McCaffrey) is thrilled to be joining Arizona Broadway Theatre on this amazing show. He recently performed on Disney Cruise Line as a mainstage performer, playing Peter Pan, Maximus in Tangled the Musical and Gus Gus. Other previous roles include Finch in How to Succeed, Mark in Altar Boyz, and Will Parker in Oklahoma! He would like to thank Lyn, his mom, Dave, and his friends and family for all their support!

NOELLE KRUGMAN (Ngana) is age 11 in 6th grade at Fireside. She’s been in Performing Arts since age 3. Noelle has been in award-winning ensemble casts for Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast and School of Rock. She has performed in California, Chicago, and Phoenix. In addition to musical theater, Noelle is involved in Student Council, Yearbook Club, Orchestra (violin), and Choir at school. She wishes all the best to the cast and crew of South Pacific!

KATE MARSHALL (Ensign Nellie Forbush) is thrilled to return to the stages of the Valley! Kate grew up in South Dakota and obtained a music education degree from South Dakota State. She also represented her home state at the Miss America Pageant and was featured on Miss America: Reality Check on TLC. While earning her Master’s degree from ASU, Kate performed at Phoenix Theater, Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, Tempe Little Theater (Grey Gardens) and the Lyric Opera Theater (Rocky Horror Show/Riff Raff, ariZoni nom). Other credits include the national tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Milly), The Full Monty (Engeman Theater), Shrek (Fiona), and Legally Blonde (Vivienne).

ASHLEY NICOLE MARTIN (Ensign Bessie Noonan) is thrilled to be spending her winter with the ABT family! Regional: Hairspray (Tammy), White Christmas (Mrs. Snoring Man), Legally Blonde (Serena, Plays-In-the-Park), Footloose (Wendy Jo). NYC: Wonderland (Dance Captain/ Ensemble) at the York. JAY McGILL (Lt. Joseph Cable) is thrilled to be joining ABT! Jay has previously played Tin Man in the National Tour of the Wizard of Oz and has appeared as Tony in West Side Story and Sky in Mamma Mia with RMRT, as well as in Les Mis, The Who’s Tommy and South Pacific with WVPT. On television, he has appeared on Being Erica (CBC), The Latest Buzz (Family Channel) and Super Why (PBS Kids/Netflix). BFA in Musical Theatre from CCM. Thanks to Mom, Dad, and The Price Group. LAUREN MORGAN (Ensign Dinah Murphy) is so excited to return to ABT for her ninth production. A few favorites include Hairspray (Lou Ann), Rock of Ages (Constance), White Christmas (Rhoda), and Saturday Night Fever. Other regional credits include Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Chicago, Cats, Mary Poppins, and Into the Woods to name a few. Lauren has a BFA in dance from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. JASON PLOURDE (Cmdr. Harbison) Previously seen as Caiaphas (JCS) and the Captain (Man of La Mancha), Jason is thrilled to be back at Arizona Broadway Theatre as Commander Harbison (South Pacific). A versatile performer, Mr. Plourde has nearly 20 years’ experience in opera, theatre, and musical theatre. Some most notable credits have included Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Verdi’s Falstaff and Macbeth, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Jekyll and Hyde), Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady), Dr. Craven (The Secret Garden), Padre (Man of La Mancha), Tom (The Norman Conquests), Tony Wendice (Dial M for Murder), and Eddie (Lost in Yonkers). He has performed with the Indianapolis, Sarasota, Central City, and New York City Operas, the Winnipesaukee Playhouse, the Gretna and Broward Stage Door Theatres, the Missoula and Portland Symphony Orchestras, the Caramoor International Music Festival, and the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera, where he created the role of Burton in Thomas Pasatieri’s The Hotel Casablanca. TV REEVES (Capt. Brackett) Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so proud and excited to be back for my third production at Arizona Broadway Theater. You may remember me as General Waverley in White Christmas or Flo Ziegfeld in Funny Girl. I have been so very fortunate to perform in every aspect of the performing arts. In 1982, I starred in my first SAG production for a Chrysler film right out of college and it went on from there. There was a television production of the Wonder Years where I played a police officer which was nominated for an Emmy. We did not win. Close but no cigar. I am also a proud combat veteran from Vietnam. I am the luckiest man in the world.

JONNY ROUSE (Yeoman Herbert Quayle) is so excited to be back at the Arizona Broadway Theatre! ABT Credits: Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, Sweet Charity, The King & I. Off‐Broadway: The Wizard of Oz. National Tours: Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas. MATTHEW RUFF (Professor) is delighted to be in Arizona for this amazing production. Matt is an NYC actor pursuing his passion of acting. He graduated from UF with his BFA in Musical Theater in ‘15. Recent roles include Padre (Man of La Mancha AZ), Charles Ingalls (Laura Ingalls Tour NYC), Soapy Smith (Days of 98 show AK), Rev. Smith (Henry Box Brown NYC), Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd FL), and Lil Jake (Annie Get Your Gun FL). He thanks God, his family, and friends for their love and support.

BRAD RUPP (Luther Billis) is so happy to be back home on the ABT stage for South Pacific, which marks his twentieth Mainstage production at ABT. He currently resides in Los Angeles and is a graduate of Arizona State University (Bachelor of Music). Favorites at ABT include Oklahoma! (Jud Fry), Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf), Sunset Boulevard (Max), Carousel (Jigger) and Les Misérables (Thenardier), among others. MEGGIE SIEGRIST (Ensign Pamela Whitmore) is bursting at the seams to be part of such an incredible production at her favorite theater in Arizona. She just appeared in Man of La Mancha but was also seen in Oliver!, Jesus Christ Superstar, and A Christmas Story last season. She would like to thank the entire ABT family, for always working hard and laughing with her. ELEONORE S. THOMAS (Bloody Mary) is honored and humbled to reprise the role that began her long relationship with ABT eleven years ago. She was most recently seen here as Norma Valverde in Hands on a Hardbody. You may also have spotted her as Madame de la Grande Bouche (the opera singing wardrobe) in Beauty and the Beast and in A Christmas Carol at ABT and the Herberger Theatre Center. Favorite credits include The Royal Christmas Tours starring Andrea Bocelli & Julie Andrews.
