“This weekend, a new production of Oklahoma! became the season opener for the Arizona Broadway Theatre, and it kick starts the company’s season in grand style.” David Appleford, 99.9 KEZ.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s American classic was more than a hit – it was the first real phenomenon in the modern Broadway era. Oklahoma! is the story of Laurey and the two rivals for her affections: Curly, a cowboy; and Jud, the hired farmhand. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Oklahoma! also tackles class issues between the farmers and the cattlemen in the rugged landscape of a state in its infancy. This brilliant first collaboration of Rodgers and Hammerstein set box-office records as it ushered in the Golden Age of American Musical Theatre.
