GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION

Arizona Broadway Theatre is accepting non-equity submissions immediately for the following roles in its upcoming 2014-2015 season:

 

THE PRODUCERS (Sept. 22 – Nov. 9, 2014)                         

“Ulla” – Female, 20-30. A young and hopeful actress. Though her beauty might eclipse her talent, Ulla is passionate about life and art. Quite a clueless seductress in some ways. Range: A3 – G5

Understudy, “Leo Bloom” – Male, 25-40. An accountant. Boring and mousy, he is a hesitant optimist who longs for something more. Dragged into a scheme by Max. Range: A2 – F4

WHITE CHRISTMAS (Nov. 10 – Dec. 28, 2014) 

“General Waverly” – late 50s-mid 60s. A retired U.S. General, adjusting to civilian life in post World War II America. A man of great principle and dignity. Non-singing, with the exception of one line. 

“Betty Haynes” – mid to late 20s. The sensible, responsible half of the Haynes Sisters. Devoted to her younger sister. A female singer of quiet beauty and charm who must move well. Soprano with strong chest mix. 

“Judy Haynes” – early 20s. The younger, more ambitious, slightly scheming Haynes sister. A winning charmer whom no man can resist. Strong jazz and tap-dancing needed – a major song-and-dance performer. Strong chest mix.                                                             

Understudy, “Phil Davis” – late 20s-mid 30s. An irrepressible clown, operator and incorrigible ladies' man. Determined to see his friend happy, even if it requires scheming and outright deception. Strong jazz and tap-dancing needed – a song-and-dance comic performer. Bari-tenor.

LES MISÉRABLES (Feb. 2 – April 4, 2015) 

“Madame Thenardier” – 30s-50s. The inkeeper’s wife and partner-in-crime. Coarse, vulgar, greedy, nasty and larger-than-life. Able to improvise in nearly any situation.  Range: Gb3 – D4

ABT is a professional non-equity dinner theatre that hires talent nationwide for its fully staged musicals. Equity actors are considered for certain roles, which will be listed as such in audition notices. ABT is not a participating EMC theatre.

Arizona Broadway Theatre is always looking for passionate, driven students to join our team and learn about the world of performing arts.  ABT currently welcomes a variety of interns from communications to props.  Students may apply for one of three available sessions with each application (fall, spring and summer).  When submitting your application, please also include your resume.

Employment Opportunities

Stage Manager

Arizona Broadway Theatre seeks experienced and motivated Non-AEA Seasonal Stage Managers. Candidate must be organized and hard-working, possess leadership qualities and the ability to work well under pressure. Prior experience as a Regional Stage Manager on musicals with a cast of 20-35 preferred.  This is a Full-Time position and the target start date for this position is June 16th, 2014.

Scenic Carpenter

Arizona Broadway Theatre seeks an experienced and motivated Scenic Carpenter. Candidate must be organized and hard-working. Proficiency in both metal and lumber theatrical construction techniques and tools required.

Costume Stitchers

Arizona Broadway Theatre seeks experienced and motivated Costume Stitchers to fill immediate openings in our costume shop. Requires advanced hand and machine sewing skills, various garment construction techniques including basic tailoring, strong knowledge of Costume/Fashion History, fabric and notions identification and theatrical terminology. 2 years minimum experience in costume construction. Applicant must be available for some evenings/weekends as required. The Costume Stitcher will work closely with the Costume Director, Draper, Creative Teams and other ABT production staff to create and support productions of high quality and sustainability. This is an hourly position and the target start date for this position is Aug. 4th, 2014.
