Arizona Broadway Theatre Celebrates AZ Gives Day With Week-Long Festivities

From livestream performances, to ticket giveaways for veterans, ABT is hoping to give back to the arts community while also vocalizing its mission as a nonprofit

PEORIA, Arizona, April 3 — As this year’s Arizona Gives Day commences, Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) is preparing a week full of special events and performances for the West Valley arts community. Tonight will kick off the period of giving with an evening livestream performance from ABT’s HyRev teen troupe.

Throughout AZ Gives Day’s early giving period, from now until April 5th, ABT will be raising funds in the hopes of being granted with prizes including:

  • Cash prizes from a $180,000 prize pool sponsored by FirstBank, Freeport McMoRan Foundation and Thunderbird Charities
  • Early Giving Donation prizes worth up to $1000
  • Golden Tickets distributions for each $25+ donation made per hour on April 5th

Arizona Broadway Theatre is a professional, nonprofit theatre with the mission to provide kids and young adults with arts education opportunities, while vitalizing a creative workforce in the West Valley. Through Arizona Gives Day, ABT hopes to raise awareness of its artistic and educational presence in Peoria and raise funds that will further develop its many programs that contribute to its mission.

Tonight’s livestream will showcase the HyRev teen troupe, which is funded in part by the many donors that contribute to ABT. HyRev teen troupe is one of ABT’s educational opportunities provided for teens interested in theatre. In HyRev, teens are able to be a part of a positive arts community while also growing their skills and working toward their dreams of careers in the theatre world. ABT offers a variety of scholarships for this program to give everyone the opportunity to pursue their passions, regardless of background or financial status. The livestream starts at 5:30 p.m. tonight and will feature song and dance performances from a variety of modern genres.

Tomorrow night on April 4, Industry Night takes place on Giving Tuesday. Anyone in the performing arts industry can bring a 2022–2023 playbill and receive an evening performance ticket for $15 + fees. The current production at ABT is Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville of which a majority of the cast is making their ABT debut. Industry Night is not only a fun opportunity for performing arts employees, but it also supports the cultivation of a workforce community for creatives. Those participating in Industry Night can network and gain inspiration from like-minded peers.

The ABT team will be highlighting the attendees of Escape to Margaritaville on April 4 with trivia games, giveaway opportunities and interviews that will be posted on Instagram stories. Arizona Broadway Theatre hopes this broadcast will showcase its patrons that keep the arts alive with their support and attendance.

For Thursday night, in coordination with Vet Tix, veterans are attending Arizona Broadway Theatre to enjoy a performance of Escape to Margaritaville. ABT donated 150 tickets to Vet Tix and is looking forward to providing veterans and service members with an experience involving performing arts.

Finally, on Friday night, ABT is encouraging people to visit the theatre for First Friday and get Escape to Margaritaville performance tickets for $35 + fees. A free After Dark Cabaret will be held after the production, featuring musical performances from cast members. ABT’s After Dark Cabarets are a unique way to keep the community engaged and help them forge deeper connections with the theatre and the performers they see on stage. ABT hosts a First Friday deal and After Dark Cabaret monthly and hopes these events will give those who have never been to the theatre before a chance to see all that it has to offer.

Above all else, ABT hopes AZ Gives Day will help build connections as a nonprofit theatre in the West Valley. Arizona Broadway Theatre is a hidden gem that prides itself in putting on high caliber productions with unique dining experiences, while also serving as a hub for education and career growth opportunities in the arts.

Arizona Broadway Theatre’s current production, Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville, ends on Sunday, April 16. There are plenty of great opportunities in this second to last week to see a performance and explore all that ABT has to offer. For more information, visit AZBROADWAY.org or AZGIVES.org/AZBROADWAY.
