ABT surpasses ASU Gammage as Best Live Performance Theater after several years
PEORIA, Arizona, July 1 — Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) is proud to announce its monumental achievement of receiving Phoenix Magazine’s Best of the Valley award for Best Live Performance Theater. This recognition marks a significant triumph for ABT as it surpasses ASU Gammage’s winning streak after several years, solidifying its status as a leading venue for unforgettable theatrical experiences in Arizona.
With over 350,000 Best of the Valley voters this year, the coveted Best Live Performance Theater category is highly competitive, featuring distinguished venues that contribute significantly to the arts and cultural landscape of the region. Arizona Broadway Theatre’s award underscores its contributions and unwavering commitment to providing exceptional entertainment to its loyal patrons.
“We are incredibly thrilled to receive this award, as it reflects Arizona Broadway Theatre’s mission to bring the best Broadway musicals to our patrons,” said ABT CEO, Kiel Klaphake. “Since our first production in 2005, we’ve aimed to maintain deep relationships with our ABT family by creating memorable experiences.”
Kiel and Cassandra Klaphake started Arizona Broadway Theatre with the vision to build a hub where the needs of both performers and audiences are met. As a nonprofit live theatre venue, ABT strives to maintain connections with the community through youth education communities, provide a stable workforce for local and nationally recognized artists, and create a personable experience for every single patron.
Currently, The Wizard of Oz is on stage until July 23 and is truly a representation of ABT’s continuous, exponential growth over the past 18 years. The production is brought to life by the addition of a new LED wall to the stage, alongside the brilliant talent and a live orchestra. Arizona Broadway Theatre is rounding out its season with its next production, Disaster!, a new musical by comedy writer Seth Rudetsky. Both productions will feature a creatively curated dining menu by Executive Chef, David Young.
