In honor of Valentine’s Day, we asked the cast of ‘La Cage,’ “What’s your favorite love song?”

By Maddy Dowler

You know what yours is… that song that comes on the radio and you’re immediately transported back to eighth grade when you had a huge crush on Chris Meeks (maybe that was just me). But we all know that feeling and have the song or songs that take us there. So we got to wondering, what love song tickles a nerve for members of our cast of La Cage aux Folles.

And here’s what they said…

Kat Gold (Jacqueline)
“This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” by  Talking Heads

DJ Hersh (Francis)
“Til Kingdom Come” by Coldplay

Stephen Hohendorf (Hanna)
“Is That Alright” from A Star is Born soundtrack

Cody Petit (Angelique)
“Confessions, Part II” by Usher

Brandon Kazen-Maddox (Bitelle)
“You Don’t Know My Name” by Alicia Keys

Seth Tucker (Jacob)
“Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers

Izzy Arrieta (Phaedra)
“When He Sees Me” from Waitress Soundtrack

Brandi Bigley
“The Story” by Brandi Carlile

But that’s the past right? You know what’s in your future? A night out for Valentine’s Day at Arizona Broadway Theatre singing along to the songs of Carole King’s Tapestry album. I Feel the Earth Move. It’s Too Late. You’ve Got a Friend. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. ALL of those – and more – were part of the best-selling 1971 album Tapestry. International performer Katherine Byrnes headlines the evening, performing all songs top to bottom (plus a few more), and captures the spirit of the record that Rolling Stone calls “one of the greatest albums of all time.”

The price of your ticket includes a long stem red rose for your significant other, fresh bread basket, choice of soup or salad, and choice of included entrée from our menu. You will also receive a special chocolate treat. Not included: beverages, appetizers, and entrée upgrades.

Oh my song? Ok, here’s the one that makes my little junior high heart swoon…

“Yes, I’m Ready” by Teri Desario with K.C.
