Arizona Broadway Theatre partners with their audience members to donate over $10,000 worth of items to Sunshine Residential Homes

After two years of a very successful partnership, ABT is proud to continue spreading the holiday cheer for the children of Sunshine Residential Homes

[Peoria, Arizona, January 17] – This is the second year that Sunshine Residential Homes has partnered with Arizona Broadway Theatre for their annual holiday toy drive. During ABT’s run of “White Christmas,” they encouraged audience members to bring a gift to help spread the holiday spirit with the children of Sunshine Residential Homes.

Arizona Broadway Theatre is a professional, nonprofit theatre with the mission to provide kids and young adults with arts education opportunities around the West Valley. Working with Sunshine Residential Homes is exactly the type of partnership ABT wants to continue to foster in order to support even more youth within the community that have experienced challenges and hardships. SRH is the largest foster care organization in the West Valley with over 30 group homes in its care.

Tess Wagner, the Events Coordinator at SRH, shared that for nearly three decades, Sunshine Residential Homes has been a sanctuary of hope, love, and safety for vulnerable children. They strive to ensure the children are safe, cared for, and are given opportunities to enhance their experience while placed in their care while providing as much normalcy as possible. A lot of the children in their care have never had a happy holiday experience or received presents under a Christmas tree. The exceptional toys donated by guests of Arizona Broadway Theatre helped give these children that magical experience. It is organizations like ABT, whose love, support, and dedication makes all the difference in the lives of the foster children within the West Valley.

ABT continued to encourage their audience members to bring gifts even after Christmas as their run of White Christmas did not wrap up until December 30, 2023. All toys that were donated after Christmas will be utilized for a child’s birthday or for special prizes and awards. Any donated gifts not utilized by the children in SRH’s care will be donated to the Arizona Department of Child Safety, where they will be given to other foster children in Arizona. Therefore, this partnership not only impacted our community but the entire state of Arizona.
